Not necessarily a direct replacement
I bought this alternator for my 98 Chev K1500, 5.7 liter, truck, which came with a OE 100/105 amp unit. The Amazon website indicated it "fits" and so did other automotive websites. I called the Bosch Technical service line and they did not recommend using the 140A unit as a direct replacement for a vehicle that came with a 100A unit, however I know people who've done it and the local Chevy dealer said is was "do-able". There were a few issues with the installation: 1) the connector was not the same. The Bosch 140A unit requires a rectangular connector and the truck OE connector is an oval connector (not hard to replace, about 30 minutes and ~$14 for the connector). If you already have a 120 amp alternator, or higher, you probably have a rectangular plug. 2)On my engine there is a formed aluminum coolant tube that routes around/behind the outer frame of the alternator and that tube has a welded tab which is fastened to the block. Thanks to IndianaJim, I went out and checked the plug that he mentioned. Sure it enough, it was a 105 amp alternator. It saved me a lot of trouble of ordering the wrong model.I don't have alot of accessories so I didn't need the 140 amp alternator anyways.
