Exact fit for the Sportsman 500
Perfect fit, turns over with no problem, weight-wise just what the old one was, so far so good, hopefully it will last 3-4 years as the OEM did. Removing the old starter is a pain. I suggest you get a new bolt for the lower mounting hole, about 18mm long (these are metric, size 6 if i recall correctly), that is slightly shorter than oem, this way you can remove the starter next time by simply removing the belt cover as the shorter screw wont be stuck on the belt assembly. You can force the old starter out by removing both mounting bolts and once loose you remove the small bolts that hold the starter internals together, it will come off in three pieces that way, the last one being the one in the back that has that infamous bolt on it, takes some time to get it off w/o removing the belt assembly.The new starter will go in complete (there is room), its all about that one long oem bolt in the lower mounting hole, that's why this is a pain so be proactive while you're at it.
